Toasty Toes Temptations

Toasty Toes is calling - and my answer is hmmmmm, I dunno!
what to pick?
what to choose ?
what's a gal to do?

I am looking for input - options - ideas - votes... and all will be considered :-)

My pal is a lady who doesn't really like striped yarn (so she says mwwaaahaha) thus no Sock Hop for her this time.. While my personal tastes tend to run a bit wilder than my secret swap buddy, I still aim to please. I've gotten a bunch of patterns together, so that's not the dilemma..... but alas, which yarn?

Here's a couple of my recent purchases,(thank you Alison) made with my pal in mind...
on the left is Jaegger, middle is Lorna's Laces, and the right is Fleece Artist. (the fleece artist has some color variations, but it's subtle, more of a tone-on-tone). All my other purchases were wild, bold and brightly striped.... silly, yet true.... and you all already know that my Sock Hop Yarn is definately stripe- stripe-stripe!

So what do ya say???
votes please. Which one do you like? Which one will please my pal?? If these socks were coming to you, which one would YOU like? (Hah.. thought you fooled me eh, nope I'm not giving ANY clues as to who my pal is!)

Meanwhile, back here on the farm, the heat is definately ON ! It's been over 100 degrees all week long since we got home - and geeee, last night, it cooled down to 90 degrees around 10:00pm. I think I miss the lake :-)

I say fleece artist as well. that would make a very soft slightly striped pattern for someone who doesnt like stripes...you may change her mind.....liz

Definitely Fleece Artist! Love the colors; purple and pink all the way for me, bay-bee, but I also love the bold colors, so I know I can't be your pal :-(

Besides which, Fleece Artist is one of my favs to knit with (next to Sock Hop, o' course)!!

I share your pain with the heat, too! It's been over 100 every day for the last week here as well!! We should all go to the lake!

I'm going against the crowd and saying the Lorna's Laces. I love that color, and I think it would showcase a lacy or textured pattern beautifully.

I love that Fleece Artist color!

Stay as cool as you can in the heat wave. Maybe if you just pretend you're back on vacation...

Well some of it depends on what pattern you choose. A busy pattern would look best in the solid color yarn. But I do like the Fleece Artist a lot.

Ugh - I hear you on the heat. It has been 90's around here and sooo humid!

For the yarn, I love the LL's blue. I think it is so pretty and looks like a bright summer sky!

Fleece Artist.

It looks like a natural color for wool. I like the subtle variations in color. Besides Fleece Artist is from the area I visited on my summer vacation, and I had a great vacation - loved the area.

You said she doesn't like stripes, but how does she feel about bright colors? If she likes bright, then I'd go with the Lorna's Laces, otherwise I'd go with the Fleece Artist. :-)

If you want to do a patterned sock, I like the bright robin's egg blue of Lorna's. If you want to do something simpler, the Fleece Artist would be pretty. The colorway reminds me a bit of the beach on a cloudy day -- very peaceful.

As one who also doesn't like stripey yarns, I'd dye the brown yarn in the crockpot. I'd use brightish colors which should yield rich muted tones and I'd choose my pal's favorite color to dye most of the yarn. Then you'll get a yarn that's say mostly blue, with flecks of gold, burgandy and green. And if it comes out ugly, overdye it! Can you tell I've been hanging around dyelots! too much?
Have fun..........Beki

I know nothing about knitting socks but I do have to say I LOVE THAT BLUE yarn in the middle.

I would like the LL but you have to decide if it fits your pals taste, the blue is very bright. Otherwise, I received some fleece artist socks in the sockapaltwoza swap and they are so TOASTY! Just perfect for this swap!

I was over at Crown Mountain Farms this morning and the superwash colors are so great! I can't wait to order and spin up some Sock Hop-ish yarns myself. That Hang on Sloopy makes me smile...

Oh Teyani, while she may not be wild about stripes there is NOT a knitter on the planet that wouldn't be thrilled with Sock Hop yarn socks!!!!!!!!!! You definately shouldn't deprive her I say! Even I am in love with Sock Hop yarns. All of them!

If they were coming to me I'd want Fleece Artist, because I've knit many a sock with it and I love it. But if you just feel like sending me a present...then SOCK HOP!!!!!!
